USA Trip Day 2: Philadelphia

So after the Statue of Liberty cruise, we traveled to Philadelphia which was a couple hours away. Needless to say, we all suffered jet-lagged and immediately concussed on the bus, only to wake up for toilet stops. Reached Philly before dinnertime and it was a good thing that out hotel was near Chinatown. Walked there for some Cantonese dinner, but no pictures available cos we were all half asleep.

On day 2 we only had one agenda - Independence Visitor Center.

The capital of USA that we know of today is Washington D.C. But Philadelphia was actually the first capital, and it was there that the founding fathers signed The Declaration of Independence in 1776.

It's pretty interesting that a layout and remaining structure of a house can be seen. We learnt later that it is actually the former President's Home. (The first two Presidents resided in Philly before the White House was built.)

Pardon the messy hair, it was slightly windy that day!

The Liberty Bell got famous because apparently when the Declaration of Independence was signed, a bell-ringer rang this bell to inform the townspeople. A whole story also lies behind the crack in the bell. But I won't go deep into that!

The Independence Hall. It was a pity we couldn't get access into the hall! Would have been awesome to check out the interior.

Spending some time exploring the park around the area before hitting the road again.

Next post: Washington D.C.
