Europe Travelogue 2014: Paris Disneyland, France

Broke my streak of updating every week, because somehow streaming movies suddenly became more appealing. :P Well, I did upload the pictures on Saturday.. and now it's Thursday and I'm finally adding the words. Work was crazy as usual over the week. And the most exciting thing in my life at the moment is my company's upcoming bowling tournament, which I have been practicing for. Hah. Now enough mindless rambling, on to Disneyland!

*****

It's a Disney day! Was super psyched today because I was gonna tick one more Disneyland off my list. Right now, I've visited all the Disneylands in the world, except for Tokyo's, which I will be visiting next year (hopefully)! After which, I can start all over again :P

We bought a two-park ticket, so we could visit Walt Disney Studios and Disneyland within the same day. Since we've traveled so far, might as well visit both right? It was a good choice because the parks were really small, probably comparable to HK Disneyland. Unfortunately, if I had to rank them, Paris Disneyland would be at the bottom...maybe because I've already visited the best (LA & Orlando) so it was slightly disappointing. Nevertheless, I am glad to have "been there and done that"!

Under-dressed that day cos it turned out to be pretty chilly! :/
Walt Disney Studios first! The theme park would focus on rides/shows that featured special effects/animation used in movies.

As we head into the park, we enter a large indoor area with shops and restaurants.

After walking through, we exit out into the outdoor park. A statue of Mr Disney and Mickey greet us! Same statue can be found at Orlando's Magic Kingdom. Walt Disney, you are one incredible guy!

First stop, the studio tour - we are seated on a tram that takes us to different studio plots where special effects simulate scenes in the movies (fire, floods, explosions). We also got to see some props/vehicles used in some movies. Frankly, the ride was quite meh.

Next up, the Aerosmith roller-coaster. Basically, it's an indoor coaster like Space mountain except that you have Aerosmith music blasting into your ears throughout, making it really heart-pumping! Enjoyed this one. (:

Armageddon special effects show. Joel prefers special effects shows as compared to roller coasters, and sometimes I have this preference also cos I can be quite a wuss and have no guts to sit the really scary rides (especially those with very high drops).

Toy Story Land.

Rides were quite similar to those found in HK Disneyland.

Stunt car show which was pretty entertaining and heart-pumping. The drivers were so skilled!

We had our lunch (mediocre park fast-food) and headed over next door to Disneyland. Getting a two-park ticket was a good idea, cos you could easily cover both parks in one day!

It's a familiar feeling being on Main Street, so familiar that it feels like home (:

Love how much attention to detail and effort put into the display windows. Makes me wanna buy everything!

Was really excited when I found out our visit coincided with the Spring festivities . Disney characters made out of flowers! It was the prettiest thing ever. The skies were also adding to the beauty of the whole landscape.

Cinderella's castle. Disappointing I must say. The French have the largest and most beautiful Eiffel tower, but Cinderella's castle was really small.

Not as majestic, but still magical in some way..

Pirate's ship at Adventureland.

The Flying Dumbo at Fantasyland

Found Jack's beanstalk really cute!

Madhatter's tea party - Alice in Wonderland.

The parade started around late afternoon and we hurried over to grab a spot with a strategic view of the castle in the background.

How quickly Disney incorporated Frozen into the parade! Probably my most favorite out of all the floats. (:

The parade was spectacular as expected, probably the saving grace of the whole day. I love Disney so despite how everything for me was repeated/downsized, I did not regret the time (one whole day) and money (almost 100 euros per pax) spent here. I realized I didn't take many pictures while we were walking around/taking rides. Maybe it's because many elements were not new. We didn't even stay for the fireworks, partly because there was not much to do to kill time and we were bored. And also secondly for safety reasons - we weren't keen on the hour-long train ride back to the city while the sky was dark. Till then, Tokyo Disneyland, I'll be coming for you!
