Europe Travelogue 2014: Paris, France (Part 2)

Our third day in Paris was blessed with good weather again! :D
First stop on our itinerary for the day - Tour de Eiffel! Was pretty excited because the Eiffel tower is one of the most iconic attractions in the world. Somehow, your heart just skips a beat when you spot it - it was truly magical.

The most beautiful chunk of metal I've ever laid eyes on. Haha.

The #ootd that won me a free outfit from The Tinsel Rack on Instagram. xD

Champ de Mars.
Perfect day for a picnic, but we didn't bring picnicky stuff with us. So we just chilled on the grass for a little while taking pictures and we went on our way.

We decided not to go up the Eiffel Tower because we intended to buy tickets to enter Arc de Triomphe as the view from the latter would include the former. Unlucky us, because the Arc was closed for the day due to strikes...whuttt.

We had to settled for pictures from the ground up...

Ugly scaffolding due to ongoing restoration works. But nonetheless, this is the most majestic arc I've visited for the whole Europe trip.

Avenue des Champs-Élysées. We crossed over from the underground tunnel in search for lunch.

Settled for a cafe along the street and ordered us some sandwiches. Our meals in Paris have been constantly standard - sandwich with assortment of ham and cheese, or any other kind of parisian pastry. At first it was pretty cool to eat authentic parisian bread, but afterwards it became, "Do they even eat anything other than bread??" Lol.

Well, fruit tarts became my saving grace. Loook at those juicy raspberries!

Feeling unsatisfied from lunch, I insisted we look for Laduree, which turned out to be nearby.

Oh-so-delicious but so overpriced as well.

Settled for my usual macarons :D

Stumbled upon Abercrombie and Fitch, and the gated entrance is already stunning.

Meticulously trimmed tall hedges line the way to the store.

The store itself looks like it's housed in a palace. Jaw-droppingly beautiful interior design!

Grand Palais - a large museum and convention centre. You can't see from here but there is a large glass dome roof that makes for pretty photos from the inside. Chanel often hosts their fashion shows there.

Pont Alexandre III.

One of my favorite bridges in Paris, besides Pont de Arts!

We tried to walk from attraction to attraction as much as we could, it was a way of saving money and also we could take in more sights that way.

Place de la Concorde - the largest square in Paris, in which stands the tall Obelisk, given by the Egyptian government.

One of the two Fountaines de la Concorde. If you watched The Devil Wears Prada, towards the end of the movie, Anne Hathaway's character throws her phone into one of the fountains. Haha, that's a random fact for you.

L'église de la Madeleine - The Madeleine church.

And a visit to Paris will not be complete without making a stop at Chanel's first store at Rue Cambon. Wanted to splurge on a bag, but the design I wanted was out of stock ): Left the shop with only two pairs of earrings - still better than nothing!

Printemps.

Last stop for the day - Galeries Lafayette to buy stuff on behalf of friends and family back home. Love the glass dome, and it's a pity this is all my iphone could capture! The DSLR was with the bf who was parked at Macdonalds because he was too tired to shop with me! lol

The only thing I got from Galeries Lafayette for myself was a Chanel necklace, but I reckon this is already considered self-control!

Also bought some Pierre Herme macarons back for supper. Where have these been all my life! They are definitely in a league of their own, way above Laduree. The macaron shells were pillowy and melt-in-your-mouth and the fillings were so heavenly, up till today I look forward to the next time I get to savour these again. :P
