Currently at Joel's place right now, so bored out of my skin that I've resorted to shopping on Taobao! We didn't go to Cameron Highlands in the end (BOOOO) cos Joel came back from Bangkok with a fever and he has been sleeping/ in a zombie state ever since. His family went without us though. So I've been the dutiful gf taking care of him and going to buy his meals and filling his water bottle and making sure he gets well as soon as possible!
Didn't bring my ibank device so I can't checkout my Taobao purchases...so I shall blog!

Day 12: Disney's Magic Kingdom, Orlando, Florida
Yes. Magic Kingdom AGAIN. (Recall: that I went to Magic Kingdom back in Dec 2012 here.)
I initially wanted to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom, to see the safari and animals and stuff. But due to the rainy weather (reports stated showers in the afternoon), we did not wanna risk paying $90 USD just to go see animals hiding in their caves/homes/shelter so we decided to go to Magic Kingdom. Anyway, Joel hasn't been there before and since Magic Kingdom is *the best* Disneyland in Orlando, it made the most sense. Joel is not a Disney fan, and he was bored, but he accommodated to my whims and pretended to care. Hah.
Since I've blogged about this theme park before, I'll skip the repeats and talk about the rides I didn't sit before!
So this time, we actually managed to sit more rides yet have time to stop and take pictures. It's really easier traveling in a pair versus traveling with a family/tour group. The last time, the tour guide brought us around the park (to all the good rides first) so can you imagine a whole group of 13 weaving through the crowd? The adults obviously don't "weave" so the whole speed of the group was just slowed down immensely. Even after we broke for free-and-easy, my family of 6 didn't move very fast either! With just the two of us, we were more decisive!
As mentioned in the previous post, we didn't buy our tickets beforehand, but it didn't matter cos the tickets would cost the same price (about $90 something USD after tax for a one day ticket).
Didn't get to take a picture with this the last time! But this stupid lady had to photo-bomb me and ruin my picture. Thanks ah! In the end we gave up cos there were too many people.
Was wearing clip-on Minnie ears that I bought at Downtown Disney the day before. If you read the post on my previous visit, you'll know that I lost my Marie cat ears (on one of the rides) and was very upset cos of the sentimental value. So I knew I had to get a new headgear by hook or crook! If I had a choice, I'll choose Marie cat ears again but there were only Minnie Mouse ones in different variations, colors and shapes. I think only HK Disneyland sells the cat ones. ): Anyway, I found these clip-ons at a corner of the store, and Joel felt it was nicer than the normal hairband Minnie ears. It was a good choice, cos I didn't see many people wearing it!
This sight NEVER gets old for me! :D
As any rational and strategic person would, we decided to cover all the outdoor rides first, considering that it would rain in a few hours. Onward to Adventureland!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Splash Mountain - did not sit this. Lol I do not sit two kinds of rides - water ones and those that have a vertical drop. :/ I would sit water ones if I were in a water themepark, where I'm wearing the proper clothes (i.e. bikini). I hate the feeling of dressing up and putting on makeup then getting drenched and walking around soaking wet in my good clothes. Sounds super vain but yeah, even Joel didn't want to get his shoes wet. lol
We made a conscious effort to get Fastpasses whenever we could. Joel had no clue what they were initially, but after he had a taste of bypassing the longggg queues he was thoroughly ecstatic. Haha.
If you've been to HK Disneyland, this is similar except for some minor differences. Not gonna spoil it with details! I preferred Orlando's cos I could understand the guide and he cracked super funny jokes. The river guides in HK have thick accents that made it hard to understand them. Just my opinion!
Fantasyland! I think that the crowd there was not overwhelming that day, must be the bad weather! Or maybe cos people were waiting for May 24th (I went on the 21st), cos the park would be open for 24 hours that day in commemoration of the Monsters University movie.
Forced Joel to take this picture haha. He was the designated cameraman for the day cos he was thought taking pictures in Disneyland is a rather childish so he wants to minimise the pictures taken of him. But a sword is quite manly right? Heh.
Next up, Journey of the Little Mermaid. Check out the queue that snaked all the way outside!
Muahah! We got in within 10 minutes thanks to these!
Couldn't help but sing aloud along with the song "Part of Your World" - lyrics I actually purposely learnt by hard back in Secondary School! Joel kept kept asking me to shhhsh but I didn't care! Haha.
Another one I missed the last time - Enchanted Tales with Belle. This wasn't a ride but more of a skit/interaction session.
The cast members chose some kids and a few adults to act as the characters in Beauty and the Beast. Then we had to go to the library to meet Belle to surprise her.
Yay Belle! She's my favorite Disney Princess (:
Belle with the girl who had to act as the horse.
In the background you can see the guy who had to act as the guard haha.
Anyway was so happy cos Belle touched my Minnie ears when she passed me by, she was like, "I love your ears! :D" and being the Disney retard that I am I gave a goofy grin and slurred a thank you. lol
Time for the 3pm Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade! As you can tell from the floor it began to drizzle.
I bet the cast members inside the mascot costumes are like, "Yay! Rain ain't gonna affect me!" and those without are like, "Wtf the rain is getting into my eyes but i have still open them wide and continue smiling. FML." lol
Mary Poppins sure is glad her character has a brolly!
Love how every character here - Peter Pan, Wendy, Alice and the Madhatter, are all doing different actions.
Belle!!! But she was played by a different cast member as the one in the interaction session.
Disney princesses from the left: Partial view of Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel and back view of Tiana. I always wonder what the cast members who play the princesses are thinking...
After the parade we ducked into the Enchanted Tiki Room to escape the rain.
Most boring shit ever! Don't bother. Haha. Saw people sleeping.
To the person in-charge of attractions at Disneyland, if you're reading this, please consider replacing this!!
Rapunzel's castle. Just a architectural piece, unfortunately not a tall tower we could climb up to and see the view of Disneyland.
In the queue to take pictures with Daisy and Minnie.
Favorite picture ever! Minnie saw my ears and she got damn excited!
:D
Quick bite afterwards, and the rain stopped!
Peter Pan's Flight - with Fastpasses
Funny picture of Joel and I concentrating real hard during the Buzz Lightyear ride. Haha. I challenged him to see who could get the highest score and for 3/4 of the ride I was winning - cos he didn't know how it worked! I was like the laser! Point your laser at the target. And within the remaining 1/4 of the ride he caught up and won me! Sheesh.
After coming out from the ride we saw a mass outdoor clubbing session going on with Pluto, Goofy and Stitch. My first instinct was to shout at Joel to take pictures for me while I ran forward and tried to get close to the the characters.
This was the closest I could get to Stitch....'s backview -_-"
HAHAH! FAIL.
Joel likes this picture of Stitch cos he looks like he is going, "Who me?!" lol
Monster's Inc Laugh Facility. Was really quite funny! Laughed a lot.
Nobody around to photobomb so faster take a nice OOTD shot with the castle! Wearing Her Velvet Vase Vespa Eyelet Playsuit. Love how it's white in color but no VPL can be seen cos the material is thick, yet comfy for the hot weather!
Nobody to help us take, but thank goodness there's the swivel screen to self take!
Headed to Liberty Square and it was already about 7pm but the sky was still so bright! Grateful for longer days in the summer! (:
With the liberty bell replica but I've taken a picture with the real deal in Philadelphia. (:
Decided to walk around the Swiss Family treehouse. And then while we were happily walking up WE SAW A BOY PEEING IN HIS PANTS. He was trying to pee discreetly by dunno positioning his thingy strategically through the leg-hole of his pants but he was startled upon seeing me that he just totally wet himself. And his father was damn oblivious to the whole thing!!! (Honestly I thought only Mainland Chinese kids will do something like that, considering how a lot of their parents openly let their kids pee in public.) The worst thing was the kid was trying to pat the wet area dry so he was like pat pat pat, hands wet right, *touch railings*. Joel and I just stared in horror and shuddered at the thought of how someone was gonna touch the railing coated in pee. Needless to say we didn't bother looking at the attraction we just ran out of there as fast as possible.
Headed to the gift store to look at pretty things to get the ordeal with pee boy out of our heads. haha. Begged Joel to buy this Graduation Duffy for me! Cos I wanted to hold it when I was taking pictures after Convocation. But he refused cos I already have a Duffy at home. ): How I wish they sold the gown alone! ): Up till now I'm still thinking about it. Sigh....
Anyway time for fireworks! We chose a strategic spot - a spot where we could see the fireworks and castle clearly yet be able to rush out of the park when it ended (to avoid the human jam). Cos to get to the carpark we had to take a monorail.
Grateful to have Joel who was taking lovely shots while I enjoyed the fireworks. Later he complained that he only saw the fireworks through the lens! Haha.
Finally got a picture with horticulture Mickey (:
Disneyland Paris and Toyko, I'm coming for you!!!!
Someday.....
love reading your posts on USA!!! :D
